Why I prefer Firefox over Google Chrome?
Google Chrome was launched primarily to challenge Microsoft’s internet explorer(IE). IE is by far the most crappiest browser available on the planet. It lacks security and transparency and yet the ignorant huge bunch of humans use it. So, me using IE is never going to happen.
In this blog I will say in which ways Mozilla’s Firefox is better than Google Chrome. Chrome is a good browser too, its open source, but I find firefox appealing due to the following reasons:
The first reason being that Firefox(FF) is now better integrated with Ubuntu than Chrome. Chrome was the first browser to save on vertical space, but the Ubuntu guys have integrated firefox to unity so well that the vertical space edge of Chrome is knocked out.
The second reason is the addons. There are tons of addons on firefox. The Adblockplus blocks ad’s that annoy you which includes Google ad’s. This plugin called flash-got-all lets me download flash videos from you tube and other video sites and save it onto my hard-drive. I love this twitbar, from which I can post to twitter using firefoxes address bar.
I am a web developer, Google Chrome has got this inspect element feature that allows web developers to understand markup’s and scripts that run in a web page. In firefox, this feature is not present as default, but can be got by installing the fire-bug addon.
Firefox has got ton’s of addons compared to chrome. Chrome may look good, but it does no impress me in ways that firefox has. Firefox still has standard menus at the top of it, and I like it rather than put it all behind a spanner button as in chrome.
Last but not the least, Google is a company thats controller by board of directors and shareholders. Their main motive is to get back more money they put into Google. So one day, like many open source projects of SUN getting polluted due to Oracle buying SUN, may be one day Chrome might get polluted. Firefox on the other hand is created by people who love web to be open and hence it will remain pristine.
