Rails workers

2007, when I started with PHP, it was nothing. Not even object oriented concepts were catching in it. But there were three good things in it

1. Its not Microsoft, and hence its dependable
2. Its a free software ( http://fsf.org )
3. It can take values from database, put it in webpages and the reverse was possible

PHP was cool. Not so hard as Perl. It would almost eliminated Perl when it came to web programming. There are 1000’s of PHP companies all over India now. Many of them who ridiculed that PHP is only for blogs, now have adapted it as a business when they saw big money in it. Dogs do wag their tails and stick their tongue out for bones (its their nature, nothing can be done about it).

PHP is regarded as very great skill today. the same thing will happen to Ruby on Rails. Ruby on Rails will change the way we build web apps. It has already changed. Very soon Indian giant tech companies will cash on it. They will recruit freshers, train them in  Ruby, XHTML, Css, Javascript and Database and throw them in to make money for them.

The pay for Ruby on Rails developers must exceed that of the pay received by PHP because it takes lot of concentration to become Ruby on Rails developer and when you know it, you will cruise like a Mirage pilot.

When Ruby on Rails kicks off (in fact it has already taken off), people will be needed to manage projects. The good thing about Rails is that it will reduce the need for web programmers by 50% (so less people will be needed). Time of developing web projects can be reduced by 20% to 50% (depends you see). Development cost can be reduced to whoppy 70%!

Ruby on Rails in India will throw out ASP.Net, Java and PHP technicians (life is not fair! Is it?) and bring out new breed of people who breathe Ruby. Lets wait and watch whats next (after Rails)!!! Its cool!!!!
